TRANSITION:
FROM ACRYLIC (AND WATER-BASED MEDIA) TO OIL *New
Class*
*Ages 17 and up*
Friday, Saturday, and Sunday, June 4 - 6, 2010
10am - 5pm each day
Many artists choose water-based media early in their art training
and experimentation because of restraints including availability,
costs, clean-up, and speed. After acquiring basic painting skills,
artists sometimes choose to move into oil but are hesitant to tackle
the medium. Luana will translate the transition with ease carefully
explaining the similarities and differences. Learn the foundation
of materials, layering, application, tools, mediums, clean up, transportation,
and essentials to advance to oils.
Instructor: Luana Luconi Winner
Cost: $265 ($250 members)
Supply list will be provided upon registration.Bring a bag lunch |

WATERLESS LITHOGRAPHY
Friday, June 11, 2010 Intro 6 - 8:30pm
Saturday and Sunday, June 12 & 13, 2010 10am
- 5pm
Using this safe printmaking method, students will create a three-color
hand-pulled print using pencil, wash, and color flat techniques. Your
drawing will be printed in black and white with added color accents.
Students will complete a small edition of hand-pulled original prints
and participate in a class print exchange. Please bring a drawing
that will fit on a 5” x 7” format.
What is Waterless Lithography?
Traditional lithography is based on the principle that grease and
water do not mix. The water repels the greasy ink in the non-image
areas that are protected with gum arabic. The oil-based ink is attracted
to the greasy image. In the waterless method, silicone is used as
the protector of the non-image areas. The ink is attracted only to
the image areas.
Instructor: Susan Soper
Cost: $165 ($150 members/teachers) + $20 material
fee to be paid directly to instructor.

editions will be included.

PAINTING
PERSONALITIES
*Ages 17 and up*
Saturday, July 31 & August 1, 2010
10am - 5pm each day
This class is for those who love people! Not designed for structured
portrait paintings of CEOs or corporate styled portraits, we will
be capturing characters and personalities! Have you ever wished
you could paint the cowboy with the handlebar moustache, the baroness
in the turn-of-the-century, ostrich-feathered hat, or the fencing
master? Think of the wonderful paintings from past eras - the clothes,
the colorful attitudes, and the memorable characters. Luana will
demonstrate several quick techniques on canvas (and in pastel, if
requested). Students can choose to work in oil, acrylic, or pastel.
Come for the fun of painting personalities!
Instructor: Luana Luconi Winner
Tuition & model fee: $225 ($210 members/teachers)
Supply list will be provided upon registration for either oils
or pastels. Bring a bag lunch.

HANDMADE
FELT
Saturday, August 14, 2010
10am - 4pm
Handmade felt is believed to be the oldest textile technique, dating
to the Stone Age. Explore the possibilities of color, texture, and
form with this medium, using only wool and hot water. Students will
comb dyed wools together to create a personal color palette, layer
these colors to form felt “geodes” and cylinders, and
then slice these forms to create patterning for a flat felt piece.
The flat felt pieces can then be embellished with yarns, fleece curls,
etc. for textural wall pieces, or stitched to become pillows, purses,
etc.
Instructor: Sharron Parker
Tuition & materials: $100 ($85 members/teachers)
