REGIONAL EMERGING ARTIST IN RESIDENCE
Marie Cordella, Collar Marie Cordella Regional Emerging Artist in Residence Prospectus We welcome Marie Cordella as our new Regional Emerging Artist-in-Residence. Established in January 2000, the Regional Emerging Artist Residency is a program that provides emerging visual artists with time and space to explore their work in a supportive, thriving, artistic environment. The residency includes a private, rent-free studio with 24-hour access. Recipients are selected through a call to artists held twice a year. The next deadline is October 1, 2008 for a January - July 2009 residency. Interested applicants may view the prospectus for this residency. Since launching her design career in 2001 Cordella has created a unique
portfolio of commissioned graphic designs, custom clothing, soft-goods,
animations, illustrations, and much more. Her works vary in media and
functionality ranging from custom wedding dress design and production
to highly intuitive personal experimentations that disregard the boundaries
of what is acceptable in current ready-to-wear clothing. While in residence,
Cordella plans to immerse herself in new information and take her work
on an intuitive journey, experimenting with textiles, metal, plastic,
and wood. Her goal is to create a new collection of unique wearable pieces
that are original while at the same time familiar, rich with historical
